Who Does Bud Really Look Like?

Ever since Bud was born I have thought that he was the perfect mix of John and I. Well, I take it back, as a newborn I kind of wondered how he didn't look like either one of us. I was glad he didn't look like one of my brothers since my niece looked just like me when she was born, and I thought it was creepy that my brother and his wife made me. She now looks just like her mom, but it was weird. As Bud's gotten older I have still thought he's a good mix of us both, but his expressions are totally John's.

If you were to ask my coworkers they say he looks like John. Daycare says he looks like me. We get a mixed review from friends. I generally just shrug and say, "he's a good mix of us both."

Then I asked my mom to send me a picture of myself around 3-6 months. She threw in one of me around 10 months (she thinks) just for fun. I'm totally going to ruin these comparison shots by saying this, but it was like I was looking at my own baby! I've never seen so much of myself in him until last night.

You're still welcome to weigh in your opinions, but Bud totally looks like me! In John's defense he suffered from being the 3rd child so there are almost no pictures of him. In fact when I asked for his newborn picture when we came home from the hospital, his mother brought me a picture of his brother. Yeah, poor John.

Newborn Faith on the left, 1 day old Bud in the middle, and as close as we're getting for newborn John on the right.

Newborn Comparison

3 month old Faith on the left, 3 month old Bud in the middle, and best guess for John on the right.

3 Months Comparison

Bud and I both masted "resting bitch face" at a very early age.

John and I are both a bit older than Bud in this last set. My mom thinks I'm 10 months, Bud is almost 9, and John looks to be around a year maybe.

9 month comparison

Thoughts? Have you ever thought you baby looked like you or your spouse only to be proven wrong by pictures?

9 Months Old!

You're 9 months old!
9 Months

I have apparently been making up heights for you. At your appointment last week you measured 28.5 inches. I had guessed 31 and when the nurse said 28 and a half I said, "no he was 29 at his last appointment." Turns out at 6 months you were 27 and 3/4. So it turns out that I've been wrong on your monthly write ups for a bit! You weigh 20 pounds and 4 ounces though. You're in size 4 diapers at night and 3 during the day. You're wearing 12 month clothes, but I don't think you'll be in them much longer. The 12-18 month clothes fit you much better.

You have a total of 3 teeth now. Your other bottom tooth came in and you've decided that you're going to be a vampire baby and instead of your front teeth coming in next, your left canine tooth has made it's appearance.

9 Months

This month brought a lot of new skills. You are crawling everywhere now. If you want to find me or dad you will crawl across the house to do it. You're able to navigate the steps that we have in may of our rooms, but you have yet to learn how to go down the step. After your first face plant trying it you stay away from them now. We're trying to teach you how to go backwards down them, but you don't enjoy it very much. You have also started clapping and you have learned to wave.

You are also able to sit yourself up from a laying position which you pretty much do constantly. Even in your sleep. Yes, you will sit yourself up in your sleep and cry or fall over. It makes bed time a little difficult because you can't seem to settle yourself. It also seems like your body just tries to sit up whether you want to or not. I'm hoping this doesn't last much longer for both our sakes. Because you're so mobile it's made taking these monthly pictures nearly impossible.

You still like to talk and babble quite a bit. Your favorite sounds are still ba ba ba. You'll say mama and will also say da da da, but not really dada. Dad's pretty much ready for you to say his name already though.

9 Months

You love to play and to get in to everything you can. Dad has gotten you all the Avengers and you like to play with them and smash them into eachother. You would much rather dump our your entire toy basket and crawl inside it though.

You have quite the appetite. You pretty much eat everything that we eat. There really hasn't been anything that you don't like. We're just now starting you on meats though so your meals will start to get more varied. You pretty much feed yourself and can even eat food out of a pouch on your own. You love to eat applesauce and yogurt this way. You're still nursing away at 9 months too.

Happy 9 months Bud! You've been on the outside as long as you were on the inside.

Love you.
