5 Months Old!

You're 5 months old!

5 Months

I seriously cannot believe it has been this long. When people ask how old you are and I respond with 5 months they're shocked. They expect me to say 3. 5 months to me is almost 6 months and 6 months means you might as well be a year old, that's just how fast time has gone by.

This month brought us so much change. You grew so much and have learned so much. It was a tough one because you were learning so much and therefore not sleeping. While I miss my teeny tiny baby I do enjoy that you sleep more now. You're weighing in around 17 pounds and are 28 inches long. You're wearing 6 month clothes and I won't be surprised if you're out of the footed jammies soon. You're also wearing a size 3 diapers. You are such a big boy.

Just when I thought you were never going to roll, and I'd have to write another update about you almost being able to roll, you started rolling back to front and front to back all like, "no big deal mom! I've got this! I don't know what the big deal was."

5 Months

You're almost sitting up on your own. We can leave you propped up in some places, but other times you do this really low lean when you're sitting and you're able to hold your balance.

You are also grabbing everything you can possibly get your chubby little hands on. If it's near you you will grab it. You've gotten really good and seeing something and reaching for it, but you're still a little surprised when it's not there anymore. You haven't really realized that you're the one that is letting go.

If you are able to pick something up it immediately goes into your mouth. I'm sure I'm going to have to be more careful about where I put you in case you grab something that shouldn't go in your mouth. Daddy says it's like you're trying to figure out your world with all five senses. That's why you've got to taste everything!

You love playing on your play mat, but your favorite thing is your bouncer you got at Christmas. You can't really bounce in it yet, but you love playing with all the toys and making the light buttons light up and play music. You'll laugh at it and yes, you'll even try to put the buttons in your mouth.

5 Months

You think it's hilarious when we make faces at you. You'll sometimes mimic us back, but mostly you just giggle and laugh at as. You also have this little high pitched coo that you do. I often call you little dove because that's what you sound like. When you really get going you'll coo back at us. It's so much fun to watch you try to talk to us and figure out how to make sounds.

You still love when we blow raspberries on you. It can be on your cheek, on your belly, it doesn't matter. It will always get a laugh and a smile from you. You also still love to stand and for us to play superman with you. You're getting so heavy I'm going to have to start working out so I can hold you up!

You're also able to kind of scoot yourself around a bit. I'll lay you down one way only to find that you were somehow able to turn yourself sideways. You do it a lot at night when you're sleeping. I've even found you trying to pull yourself into our bed a few times.

You figured out how to grab your feet this month and it's probably one of your favorite things to do. You'll roll up in your car seat, on the changing pad, in your bouncer, on the floor, you pretty much try to do it anywhere. It makes diaper changes a little difficult or changing your clothes, but you think it's all just great fun. I can't wait until it's warmer so I don't have to worry about you pulling your socks off all the time!

Love you Bud.

  1. What a handsome man Bud is! He looks like such a happy guy :) And Isla always pulls her socks off too. Funny how babies have a fascination with their toes!

    1. Dude it's just one more thing to put in his mouth. The babies at daycare are pulling each others off if they can't get their own

  2. He looks so long! And also? His expression in the second pic is awesome!

    1. He's sooooo long. He's going to be tall for sure. He was talking through the whole shoot. I'd mimic him and he'd giggle which is where this one came from.

  3. Time is going too fast!! Glad that he's doing well and he's so stinking adorable :)

  4. I can't believe he's 5 months old already! I still need to meet your cute little man.
