Saturday night we were a wild and crazy bunch. John and I and three of our friends met up to go to the opening of the very first Trader Joe’s in San Antonio. LOVE. It’s also right by my office so I will probably be living there around lunch time. Then we headed out to Five Guys for some burgers and fries. After dinner we invited everyone to come help us empty our fridge of adult beverages (hey, this is a kid’s movie review). We debated doing game night, but then I remembered I had just gotten the BRAVE Ultimate Collector’s Edition 5-Disc Set the day before.
We all piled into my living room and enjoyed a good old-fashioned movie night on the couch.
A little bit on BRAVE:

“BRAVE is gorgeous and fun film you’d expect from Disney/Pixar. Set in the ancient and magical Highlands of Scotland, the film follows the heroic journey of headstrong, young adventurer Merida. Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida confronts tradition and defied an age-old custom that inadvertently unleashes chaos, and forces her to discover the true meaning of bravery.”
I have to say I loved the film. Seriously, teenage daughter angst years were all right there. It was as if I was watching my own childhood up on the screen. (Except I didn’t grow up as a princess and my parents never tried to marry me off. They did not approve of some of my boyfriends though.) Pixar got the mother/daughter relationship right in this film.
Also, the film was just beautifully done. Do you remember watching Aladdin for the first time and how cool the lava scene was? This whole film was like that for me. The imagery was fantastic.
Now to the fun part!
I’m giving away one copy of the BRAVE Ultimate Collector’s Edition 5-Disc Set. The giveaway is open to readers in the United States and Canada. Entries will be taken through Friday, November 9th and selection will be made through Rafflecopter.

ReplyDeleteBrave was the first movie that we "Braved" taking the kids to, in the theater . . .
