Late last year my friends started emailing about doing a 5K up in Dallas. Originally I had agreed to make the trip to see friends and cheer everyone on by making embarrassing signs. Peer pressure eventually set in, well actually, it was finding out about the pile of chocolate fondue I got at the end, and I decided to sign up for the 5K as well.
I left sunny, 80 degree San Antonio on a Friday night and made the drive to Dallas. When I got there I had to wait a bit for everyone to show up because they had made a Target run. Why mention this? Because they had gone to Target for long underwear, hats, and gloves because overnight the temperatures would drop to the 20s. What had I gotten myself into? I showed up with a short sleeve shirt, pants and a hoodie. Luckily I have some great friends that thought of me and was given ear warmers, gloves, a thermal and a scarf.
We woke up bright and early Saturday morning and headed out. It was 16 degrees with the windchill. That chocolate had better be good!
We froze our butts off the entire way but still managed to have a good time.
Here's our full group.
Our reward at the end.
