My sweet, lazy, all I want to do is sleep all day Riley will also try to eat chickens. He and Rufus have united as Terriers and will try will all their might to eat a chicken.
Poor Agnes decided to escape the coop tonight while I was changing out their water. A chase around the yard ensued with me, Rufus, Riley and the chicken. Thankfully no one was hurt in the chase/escape although Agnes refused to come out of the coop and free range with the others tonight. I had to drag her out which I don't really like to do, but she was fine once she was with the others and realized she was out of danger.
Chickens are CHICKEN! Yes I've heard and have used the term, but until I got chickens I hadn't realized how truly scared of everything they are. It's quite funny sometimes, but I also don't want to stress them out. Especially when it involves a little white dog looking in their coop window all day.
If you can get one chicken to do what you want, the others will follow.
Chickens hate water (like rain or getting sprayed) but love wet things and wet ground.
Mine at least won't eat everything you throw their way as I've heard. Tomatoes are totally not their thing, but they'll eat potato peels and of course corn.
Feathers growing back on a chicken is not a pretty sight. Not looking forward to molting.
