I Caught a Snake with my Boob Tape

So I keep double sided tape around to keep bra straps in place and things like that.

IMG_2020

I had used it the other day and left it on my nightstand. Well I knocked it off at some point and today when I went to find it I found it behind the nightstand on the floor. I pulled out a piece of tape and found a SNAKE stuck to it.

IMG_2015

Yep. A tiny little snake.

We've seen them before in the house. I don't know if the dogs bring them in or if they make their own way in. They're no bigger than an earth worm and when we first started seeing them we thought they were worms until we got an up close look.

I think this one slithered into the tape dispenser, got stuck and died. Kind of creepy.

Currently Loving

Have you heard of Pop Chips?

I am a chip lover, but I'm also one that could eat the entire bag if you let me so I generally try to stay away. Or I portion them out on a plate. I'm always left wanting more though.

With these though you cut out a lot of calories and a ton of the fat because they're popped. They're put under pressure and aren't fried or baked. You get a ton of flavor and a healthier option.

I've had the original, which were ok. Not great. The salt & pepper were pretty good, I had meant to buy salt & vinegar. The BBQ though? Those are off the hook and I usually HATE BBQ flavored chips.

The bags I've seen at Whole Foods (the site also says Target, but I've never looked) are kind of smallish, maybe 2 servings in a bag. You can get a regular sized bag at Costco though which is where I buy mine. I think my store only has 2 flavors though.

Next time you need some chips you should try them out!

Crappy Anniversary

I can't believe I forgot to post this over here. On our anniversary John and I went to a Brazilian steak house called Chama Gaucha. It's basically a giant, amazing salad bar combined with more meat than you could ever imagine. You flip a card that means you want more meat and then you are swarmed by guys walking around with meat on giant skewers. I ate until I was almost sick and then I ordered dessert.

They brought out this lovely chocolate mousse cake that had layers of cake and white chocolate and dark chocolate mousse. It.Was.Amazing. Except, instead of Happy Anniversary, it looked like it said Crappy Anniversary.

Crappy Anniversary

Hope you had a Crappy Anniversary too babe!

Whaddaya mean I can't recycle my dead animals?

We got this door hanger from the city yesterday explaining what you can and can't put in the recycling bins.

IMAG0053

For some reason dead animals in the do not recycle list just jumped out at me. People would really do that? To think I used to think it was creepy when my dad talked about having the family dog stuffed so his grandkids could play with the same dog his kids did.

Don't worry. We didn't actually have that done. He was cremated and his ashes are now in storage somewhere.

Old Skool

Did anyone have an Alphie when they were kids?

I LOVED mine! In fact I'm pretty sure he's still hanging around somewhere in my parents' storage because I can remember having him in High School. (Yes I'm one of those people that keeps EVERYTHING. You should see the tub of My Little Ponies in my garage.)

Well Playskool has given Alphie a make over and he's now back on the market.

I think the 80s version looks like it did more stuff and I doubt he was $40 back in the day, but it's kind of cool to see something being remade.

If they come out with a My Buddy or a Kid Sister I may just die though.

What were some of your favorite toys as a kid? Would you want them to be remade?

Ugh

That's kind of how I feel. I've been on and off all week with feeling better or feeling like I'm getting sick again.

Ugh also plays into this blog. I have a TON I could write about and should write about, but just haven't had the energy to do so. Don't be surprised if John starts popping up on here more. Anytime you're ready babe!

Work has been going great. I really truly love my new job and have some fantastic coworkers. My days are pretty routine, but I've yet to get bored with it. One of my jobs is doing all the background checks and I love it. I love that whole, "I totally know what you did last summer" part of it. Ha! I'm also busy every second that I'm there. Two days a week I help with payroll and those days I usually end up working late, especially if it's an actual payday week. In my last job you couldn't pay me enough to work late - unless it was the day that I packed up my office. Now, I don't mind in the least. I get to adjust my hours for the rest of the week and that's a great reward. Leaving early on a Friday, hell yeah! I'm still learning a ton of stuff and still have a lot that needs to be passed over to me. John came by today to have lunch and I showed him off. It was so great to hear my coworkers gush over me and tell him that he's not allowed to take me away from them. It's something I hear from them regularly and from my boss. Guys - it's so great to have that feeling of appreciation and to know that you're an essential part of the team. It's something that my boss is really great about doing. Sometimes it's those little things that really make a difference.

Being busy at work has left me more exhuasted during the evenings. I'm getting home later and so is John. There really is less time in the evenings now. Plus I'm not able (as if I'd have the time) to keep up with all my online reading. I usually just breeze through on google reader, but I'm not able to leave comments. I have to remember to go back and visit when I get home and that doesn't always happen. So if you don't see me popping up as often I apologize, but trust me I'm still here. It just makes my comments that much more special. :) As always comments are greatly appreciated here and I do check during lunch on my phone!

Aside from the blog other things have been neglected. I hardly cook anymore. Maybe about twice a week? That's sad. I need to start doing more crockpot meals or take a weekend to freeze some stuff again. We eat a lot of left overs around here.

I've also neglected my friendships some. It's sad when you have to find out about a friends' life over Twitter. Plus I don't have time for Twitter, so I generally don't know what's going on unless I find the time to check it again at night and as I just wrote, that doesn't always happen.

My coworker and I also have our first weigh in tomorrow for our own Biggest Loser contest. We've agreed to not share our weights, only our losses. I need to start eating better and use that city wide gym membership that my job comes with. It's sad that I've walked through a gym every day since August 2nd and have yet to use it. Real sad. Even sadder when your job is extremely flexible with you fitting in your workout whenever you want.

Know what's also sad? Shopping for a sports bra when you have giant boobs. Yeah. Not fun. These girls need some support and pretty much no one ever has my size.

That's kind of my randomness for you: Still kind of sick kind of not, job is going great, but keeping me busy which equals a tired Faith that is neglecting several areas of her life and she can't find a sports bra that fits. Hmmm....probably sounds like each of you doesn't it? Well, aside from the bra part.

Happy Anniversary

It's our anniversary today!

Three years ago today I laughed while giving my new husband a kiss and blew snot all over his face. Yep, that's a picture of me wiping snot off my own face. It's how we roll.

Ten on Tuesday

1. Favorite way to travel (plane, train, automobile, etc.)
Depends on the length of the trip. In Europe I loved trains. I like planes although it's rare to get a nonstop flight out of San Antonio and I'd prefer that. I won't really drive any more than 6 hours though.

2. Where’s your favorite place to travel to that you’ve been to?
Quiet weekend away - Fredericksburg. Place I'd go again - pretty much every European country out there.

3. Where’s the place that you want to go but have never been?
South America. John's dying to take me to Ecuador. I'd also go to Singapore or China or Japan. Tahiti would also be nice.

4. Do you deal with traffic well?
No. Not at all. I suffer from road rage.

5. Ever had an emergency while traveling?
I had bronchitis on my honeymoon. A friend I was traveling with forgot her purse on a train and as it was pulling out of the station a very nice mad dropped it out of the window down to us. My roommate got dysentery on our study abroad trip. Although bronchitis is the only thing that happened to me and it wasn't really an emergency. Oh, my boyfriend at the time ended up getting my car impounded while I was in Europe. That was fun, especially since my car was still in my dad's name.

6. Do you have a passport? What countries have you been to?
Yep. I just renewed it too! I've been to: Jamaica, Mexico, France, England, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands and if you count Vatican City, I've been there too.

7. Are you’ve light packer or do you pack everything but the kitchen sink?
Everything but the kitchen sink. I'm a notorious over packer.

8. Do you take the fastest route or the road less traveled?
Fastest route. I'm always running late.

9. Do any activities on the road? (like road games, reading, sleeping, etc. )
John and I do all the time. We play one with the ABCs and usually a few rounds of Who would win in a fight.

10. Use a paper map or GPS?
I used to do mapquest, but now that I've got a GPS on my phone, I use that a lot more.

This Ends With Me on the Couch Eating Waffle Fries

When we got back from the reunion on Monday I started feeling sick. Well it's stuck with me all week. I started feeling better on Thursday but on Friday I was worse. Saturday morning I woke up and wanted to die. Plus I was out of medicine. Because of the storm that hit us last week, John's been pulled back to his old job and is now working 10 hours for 7 days a week, so I was left home alone with no meds. Oh yeah and the cable guy. We were having our cable reinstalled and while I would have loved to stay curled up in my bed I figured that might freak the guy out a bit. Don't think that I didn't want to see if I could bribe him into going to get me some medicine. John thought that might be a bit much to ask of the guy so I camped out on the couch feeling like hell.

After the guy left I finally showered so I could make a run to the store for some meds. I walked my sorry ass into the Walgreens down the street and stood in the medicine ailse for 15 minutes trying to find what I needed. I've had to make two other trips there this week and have run into the same employee each time. Each time I've looked worse than the last and this time the girl just smiled and shook her head at me. Thanks.

I was in search of some Tylenol Sinus and it seemed that my Walgreens didn't even have any Tylenol products aside from the aspirin. I peeked behind the pharmacy counter and of course, no Tylenol back there either. So I sucked it up and drove down the the grocery store where I again wandered the aisle trying to find what I needed. They had Tylenol Sinus but it was the fake stuff. I had been taking the other stuff all week so I KNEW it had to exist. Right when I was about to head to the pharmacist and beg her to please find me my medicine, I pulled out the pill packet that I had brought with me just in case. That's when I saw it, the expiration date of 10/09. Not only was my medicine expired, but Tylenol doesn't even make it anymore. I won't lie, I almost had a break down right there in the medicine aisle. Now two of my go to meds for when I get my stupid allergy/sinus crap are no longer being made.

So what'd I do? I put my big girl panties on, drove to Chik-Fil-A and camped out on the couch eating my waffle fries.

John Speaks

This is my first post on Faith's blog, and to be honest, my first blog ever. I remember I used to think that blogging was like an open diary so I never understood why anyone would read one, let alone write one. Thanks to my beautiful wife I have since been educated in the finer and sometimes sillier arts of blog writing. I would like to be able to maybe make a regular post that may eventually blossom into my own full blown blog, but I am not sure which direction to take things, so I thought I would ask Faith's readers what they might be interested in.
I do have a few ideas about things that could become regular posts from me and here they are. Keep in mind that I am well aware that most of Faith's regular readers are women, so I thought of these ideas with the ladies in mind, but I also thought I should write what I know.

1. How to understand your husband: advice from a husband. Let me know what you want to know about your husband.
2. Video Game reviews. It's about time that I put all my years of experience to use. I can make recommendations on new or old games. (ok, so this isn't really for the ladies, but I am a little bit of an expert with big opinions)
3. Crazy awesome questionnaires. I can think up really awesome "who would win in a cage match?" questions. This could be like a chick magazine quiz, but without any estrogen or perfume inserts.
4. Tricks for goofing off at work/church/school.
5. Um, ok, that's all I think I have for now. Any suggestions?

Our Song

So John and I came up with a song for the Reunion that was a huge hit. After much Googling, downloading of programs, and searching high and low for the right cords we finally got the stupid thing off our video camera. Here it is for your enjoyment.

If you're extra bored today you can also check out my aunt's magic show that she did. Keep in mind she does it for the Sunday School Kids.

We Survived!

We made it back yesterday after 3 days with my family.

I've picked up some type of crud along the way and feel like hell. I'd love to blame one of the 80 kids I was around this weekend, but it could also be from whatever blew in with the storm.

Oh yeah we're getting pounded by Hermine right now. My yard is thankful.

Our power at work is flickering. I'd love for it to go out so I could go back to bed.

Speaking of power outages and work. Our power was out on Friday at the house so I showered at work. It was a nice option to have.

John won in the family shooting competition this weekend. Of course we had a shoot off. If you've ever met a man in my family you'd understand. John is very proud of accomplishing this feat. More in that later though.

I think the baby question count ended up somewhere near 20.

More later. I could go on, but it'd all be drug induced haziness nonsense.

And We're Off!

John and I are heading out to my Family Reunion today. 3 full days of family fun.

There's going to be a wedding reception (although it won't be as cool as the last family wedding we attended. It was Final Fantasy themed).

There's not going to be a drop of booze in sight. My mother even reminded me of this fact which leads me to believe that my little brother once again sold me out. See if I ever share my secret beer stash with him again! Yes, we still do that to eachother even though were all getting a bit closer to 30 every year.

My mom did say we were allowed to go into town if we needed a hit from the bottle. Trust me, I already Googled the one and only bar in town.

Even though there won't be drinking we're going to do awesome stuff like the Family Olympics, which I've somehow been put in charge of. I had to remind my mom that while yes, I do hold the super awesome Hinchman Olympics every year, most of our games involve alcohol. We do things like the Beer Relay and Jello Shot Bingo. These make the "normal games" much more interesting. Guess I'll just have to make a bunch of adults play Chubby Bunnies.

We're also going to have a Family Talent Show. John and I have no idea what we're doing. He's suggested we come up with a song and even threw some lyrics at me the other day. I'm good at making up songs, but usally they're about the dogs. We'll see and I'll try to get video.

My mom has also warned reminded me that I am the ONLY cousin without kids. My little brother is the one that's lagging behind as he only has one. So yes, there's going to be 800 screaming children running around while my aunts all say (insert Southern accent here), "Now Faith Anne, why don't you have any babies?" I'm going to look around at those 800 screaming babies and think to myself, "That's why." Deflecting to my 40 year old and single brother no longer works either. I've been told by the aunts, "We've just given up on him." I expect to be asked about babies at least 30 times this weekend. At least. Maybe I'll keep a tally going. Anyone want to place bets on how many times my very southern family asks my why I have procreated yet? Any takers? I'll send you a cookie if you're right!

Should be an interesting weekend! Hope you all enjoy your three days off as well!

Dreaming of Fall

Dear Texas Summer,

It's time to go away now. Pretty, pretty please. You were fantastically mild this year, as in you were nice enough to hold off on the consecutive 100 degree days until August. That was so very polite of you. Last summer I was ready to die somewhere in July and on day 42 of consecutive 100 degree weather. I have been so nice to not complain about the heat this summer. I even defended you saying, "Oh, but it's nothing like last year. This summer has actually been much better." It's so not like me to compliment you like that so that means I really must like you this year Texas Summer. But, you see, I'm dreaming of the wardrobe I could be wearing. Like these boots that I picked up recently

and these cute booties.

They'd really like to come out of the closet sooner rather than later. Only I can't wear them when it's still in the 90s.

I'm dreaming of sweaters,

dresses with tights,

(credit)

and boots.

Boots that were barely worn last year since you, Texas Summer, you decided to stick around through October and into some of November.

I have stuck by you this year Texas Summer. Ask my husband. I don't stand around anyone this long, let alone defend them like I did for you this year. So please, please do us a favor and check your bags a little early this year.

Much Love,

Faith and her tights, sweaters and boots.

Conversations with John

During dinner last night:

J: So who do you think is the hottest Dr. on TV? McDreamy? McSteamy or...George Clooney.
Me in my head while he's talking: Nope. Oh yes. Yes indeed. Wait. WTF? You just threw in George Clooney? WHAT!? How am I to choose now!? What the hell!?
Me: What the F*ck babe. What. The. F*uck. You had to go and throw George Clooney in there!?
J: You totally knew who you were going to pick until then didn't you?
Me: I did! Now.....I just don't know. How is one to choose?
J: Yeah. I totally just blew your mind.
