Dear Old Navy-Piper Lime-Gap-Banana Republic,

I love that you made one big site that you can order from. Really I do. I think it's fantastic that you can visit each store and then just checkout, pay once and have everything shipped in one package. It's an awesome, awesome thing that I wish many other stores would do. I bet when you decided to offer $7 flat rate shipping you thought that was also a genius idea. With postage rates going up every 6 months it really is a great thing, except when you're like me and only want to buy 1 item. Once I add the $7 shipping to my $15 item it's just not worth it anymore. Why can't you have tiered shipping rates until you get to 3 items or something that's heavy and then charge your $7? It's also all your fault because you refuse to carry tall items in your store. So if I really want to get my black zippered hoodie I have to buy the regular one in the store. You know that would be fine and all, but 3/4 sleeves kind of defeats the purpose of a hoodie in my book.

The Spazmatics

IMG_2072

Friday night Sarah, Becky, Erin and I went to Scout Bar and saw The Spazmatics.

The show was freakin' awesome. I had been invited to see them previously, but didn't/couldn't go, and now I'm a little sad that I didn't make it.

They're a 80's cover band and they're absolutely hilarious. Plus, who doesn't love Journey?

If you have a chance to go you totally should! They'll be back at Scout Bar on April 10th.

The Weigh In

So last night was the final appointment with my trainer. John said I could get more sessions if I want, I'm just not sure if I can justify the cost. We'll see. We can definitely afford it at the moment or we could be responsible and pay down some debt, but I guess taking care of your health is also being responsible right? Hmmm....we shall see.

So last night I got to get on the scale, have my body parts measured and my fat pinched. Not fun at all. My weight, which I think is some kind of total fluke because I know that I have lost weight, says I gained 3 pounds. Both the trainer and I were really surprised by this. According to my weekly Wednesday morning home weigh ins, I've lost 5 pounds. Who knows, but I'm not worried about this anyways. I really don't care how much I weight, I care about fitting into my clothes properly. No more muffin tops for me!

As for my measurements. I went down a whole inch in my waist! Yay! 1/2 an inch in my chest, 3/4 of a inch in my hips, 1/2 on my arms and 1/4 in my thighs (they need some work still). My calves went up a 1/4 or a 1/2 inch, but that's good. Overall this is pretty fantastic.

Now to the fat pinching (yes, I use some REAL technical terms here). I don't remember the actual numbers, but my back fat stayed the same, my arms and my stomach went down a whole bunch, so much that she didn't really believe it and had to pinch them both twice. So that's good! My thigh I think stayed the same or went down just a little bit, I can't remember. I can't remember if we pinched anything else. I think that's it. I should know my BMI next time I see her. Let's just hope it's a few points lower than it was last time. Last time it was not good.

Overall I'm really happy with my results. We've kept a journal of my workouts so I now have a handy little guide to go by when I'm working out on my own. Let's just hope that I can do it!

Birthday Wrap Up

On Tuesday I headed to Chris Madrid's with some coworkers. Half of the group had never been before and it's really a San Antonio must see.

When we got back to the office one of my coworkers plopped this down on my desk.

Yum.

After work we headed over to Fox and Hound for pint night. John made me a cake and it kind of got smushed by the lid.

IMG_2029

However he used some mad skills and was able to peel the lid off without messing up the cake.

IMG_2032

Doesn't he have some awesome cake decorating skills for a guy?

IMG_2037

After a few drinks it was time for cake

Followed by presents

Of course John was taking the pictures so the ones I have aren't pictures of the actual presents, just them in their packages. Oh well, he got pictures of what he got me.

You know you're getting old when the two things you really want for your birthday are kitchen utensils.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yep - today is the actual day. Sometime in the 10 am hour 27 years ago I made my debut. I have burgers for lunch with coworkers today and then Happy Hour with friends after work. Yum!

Birthday Wine Weekend

John said that this is the last year that birthdays can be celebrated for more than one day. I laughed at him. Birthdays should be a holiday for everyone. When else do you get a day all to yourself? If your birthday falls during the middle of the week, on a Tuesday no less, you should be able to celebrate that weekend AND on your actual birthday. Plus, is it your fault if your coworkers decide to celebrate your birthday on some other day of the week that isn't your birthday, bringing your total celebration days to 3. How can you be blamed for that? They were just trying to be nice!

So to start off my birthday celebration (actually, the coworkers started on Thursday with cheesecake, followed by Virg's flowers on Friday, but I digress) we headed off to Fredericksburg to do wine tastings.

Julie and Erin joined John on I and we were off! Our first stop was Grape Creek Vineyards.

We tried several wines and had some fabulous pasta that was part of the Wine Trail Weekend that was going on.

We stopped to take a look around and then we were on our way.

Our next stop was Torre di Pietra.

Everyone had mixed reviews of the wines here. I tried one that I really liked, but it was a little out of my price range. Julie had two that she thought tasted like moldy feet. The grounds were really pretty though.

Everyone in Texas has to take pictures in the bluebonnets!

Next up was Becker Vineyards. John and I stopped here when we were in Fredericksburg last year for our anniversary and really wanted to get another bottle or two that we really liked.

On our way in we met a new friend.

John even fed her/him Julie's carrots and cantaloupe and grapes. Yeah, that's what you get for not putting up signs - do not feed the horse.

They had live music on the patio and we all sat around and tasted wines.

Joanne and Brandi met us here and got to try the wines and picnic out on the grounds with us.

John and I ended up buying their Malbec and the Riesling (thanks Joanne and Brandi for my wine present!)

After our lunch we headed over to Woodrose Winery.

We sat out on the patio and added to the sunburns we got at Becker.

Our final stop was at Pedernales Cellars where Jack and Lauren met up with us.

Everyone loved the Viognier and walked away with a bottle.

Then we headed back to Fredericksburg for dinner. We tried out one place only to find out that they were cleaned out by Spring Breakers. Who knew Fredericksburg was a Spring Break hotspot?

We ended up at Auslander.

Jack's birthday was on Friday so I let him share some of my birthday limelight.

Even Julie got to blow out a candle.

Then it was time to say goodbye and head back home. It was nice to get away for a bit - thanks everyone for coming out!

Look what I got

The Oh So Fabulous Virginia sent me flowers at work today as my early birthday present.

Thanks again Virg!

Now I just have to keep my coworkers from stealing the awesome vase.

(pssst.....the big day is Tuesday)
