I will get up early and run. I will get up early and run.

I've been saying this for 2 weeks now. I'll let you know tomorrow if it actually happens....

A Conversation with John

Me: So babe. Who is your favorite Stars Wars character?

J: I would like to answer that question in three parts if I may.

Me: *Rolls Eyes*

J: Who would I most want to be like? Han Solo, hands down. Who do I think is most like me? Luke. Because he's kind of whiny, but in the end he follows through and accepts what he has to do. Who would I most like to sit down and have lunch with if I had the opportunity? Obi Wan Kenobi.

Me: Ok......So what movie is your favorite then?

J: Ummm, definitely Return of the Jedi. Not only did it give us the awesome jumping scene with Luke, but it brought us Princess Leia in a bikini.

The Belated Anniversary Post

Two whole weeks ago on September 15th John and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary. It's weird that's it's been a whole year already.

We had several ideas floating around on what we should do. We were actually kind of set to go on another casino bus trip and then realized there was a giant hurricane named Ike heading towards the Texas/Louisiana coast. Not exactly our brightest idea, but at least we hadn't bought the tickets yet. So we headed to Fredericksburg instead and only because I found a place that John thought was super cool - a Bed and Brew. Yes, you get beer instead of breakfast at this place.

We stayed in the Rustic Room. I wasn't sure what that meant and asked the reservation guy if there were stuffed animal heads all over the place and he assured me no. I guess a giant stuffed turkey did not fall under the category, animal heads.

We walked around Main Street, hung out and did some shopping.

Drank some beer.

Met some interesting characters.

and finally went and had some yummy German food.

On our way back I saw this cool sign

at a place that had some not so cool signs.

The next morning we woke up to this:

Got ready and did some more wandering around on Main Street.

Drank some more beer

and then headed off to Becker Vineyards to do some wine tasting.

We enjoyed our scenic drive back home and went out with some friends that night to Boston's where we drank more beer and had fun putting random items in some guy's pocket.

Sunday we sat around and did absolutely nothing.

Monday was our actual anniversary and we had a yummy dinner at Ruth Chris.

It was a great way to spend our anniversary. I also think every anniversary should require a 4 day weekend.

It's a Fart Blog Post Kind of Day

So yesterday I read about this guy and laughed my ass off.

Then last night John and I are in bed and he rolls over and kind of fluffs the covers. OMG the smell!
Me: Did you fart?
Him: No. Did you?
Me: Awhile ago, but there's no way the smell could be that bad.
Him: I think it's coming from under the bed. (Where Riley hangs out)
Me: You think it was the dogs?
Him: Maybe Riley's getting us back for not letting him sleep on the bed.
Me: It smells too bad for it just to be him. He and Reese must have gotten together and did a one, two, three go. It's like a new fart hybrid or something.

There was also some discussion about our own brand, but I forget where. The smell has messed with my memory.

Speaking of farts, someone else posted about them and cracked me up and obviously read the same fart guy story I did. I love that we all have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy!

I was fooled!

Passing through Target the other day I came across the Archer Farms Yogurt. I don't think I've had an Archer Farms product that I haven't liked before, and they had 2 flavors that sounded interesting - pumpkin pie and apple cider. Now since I'm in love with a season called Fall that we never ever experience in the great state of Texas I decided to buy them and as an added bonus they were labeled as Low Fat. I packed the apple cider one in my lunch yesterday, but didn't get around to eating it so I just had it as my morning snack. I'm trying to climb back on the WW wagon and like a good dieter went to enter my points for the yogurt - 4 points! 4! I couldn't believe it! Usually yogurt is 2! That little container has 190 calories! Yikes! It wasn't even THAT good. 4 points for a snack! If I had known I would have had something a little more worthwhile than yogurt. I feel gypped.

Happy Birthday

To my little brother Josh! He's turning a big fat 24 today.

Here's a picture of the two of us celebrating my own 24th birthday a few years ago:

Now I'm off to go and feel old....

The Boudoir Pics

So, I FINALLY got around to making myself not look like Orange Glow Faith after the crap photoshop job the photographer did on my pictures and making a book on Blurb to give to John. You know, I only took those pictures in January when I was 15 pounds thinner and had long hair, but whatever. Needless to say John loved them and my favorite quote was, "my guitar never looked so good." Then he did the stupid thing and asked who he could show them to and when I asked who he would want to show them to he realized the stupidity of his question and replied with the name of his sister (who may have seen them actually. I can't remember). I also gave him the CD of all the images so I'm sure he'll have many happy hours at his computer. Then last night Riley was crawling under the bed and I heard a bag crinkling. I realized that I've also had all the prints in a plastic HEB bag under my bed since February. So I give them to him and he shoves them in his closet "so they don't get ruined." Then I realize that I have a black photo album that I can put them in that will offer more protection than his closet. I finish my project and holler that his album is done. He comes in and sits on the bed and starts going through them and the following conversation occurs:
Me: So which is your favorite?
J: *Blank stare*
J: I love them all!
Me: Really? There's no favorite? *thinks to self, I had a favorite within like 5 seconds of seeing them as did all my friends that saw them. You.Are.SUCH.A.Guy!*
J: It's like having to choose which one of your children you want killed first. There's just no answer for it.
Me: *blank stare*

Salsa Chicken

Mmmm Mmmm Good and so easy to make!

1 can condensed cream of chicken or mushroom (I used Fat Free Mushroom because that's what I had on hand)
4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup salsa
1 package taco seasoning (I used chicken taco seasoning, but you can go either way)
1/2 cup sour cream

Put frozen chicken breasts in the crock pot
Pour taco seasoning on top
Mix salsa and soup in a container and pour over chicken (yes it will look gross)
Cook on low 6-8 hours

When finished stir in or top with sour cream serve over rice, chips, tortillas - your choice!

Carpal Instability Non Dissociative

or CIND, that's what is wrong with my wrist. For the "medical definition" go here otherwise it means my ligaments and too long causing my wrist to clunk. OR even easier than that I'm too damn flexible which causes my wrist to be unstable and for me to be in pain. It's just nice to know what the heck is wrong with me after 3 years. So I got a shot of I don't know what in my wrist (I asked, like a cortisone and he said yeah, like that) it hurt like hell, but probably because sometime in the last few years I've become a total wimp with needles. We're talking I can feel everything from when they pricked me to the injection flowing into my body. Then I got and get all hot, want to throw up and pass out all at once. It's FUN! The shot has made my wrist hurt which is what the lovely little pain pills I was prescribed are for. To keep it from hurting I have this FABULOUS wrist splint:

Notice that I can't even pull a long sleeved shirt over it? It's also fleshed toned and I have a sock that I get to wear under it. How fun! I'll be in this lovely piece of plastic for the next two weeks. Basically I get to take it off to shower and stick it back on.

Hopefully this is worth it. I'm so sick of my wrist hurting.

Houston People Update

So being from Houston I still have a lot of friends and family there. In fact, while John and I were in Fredericksburg what I thought would just be my cousin Sherry, her husband LJ and their 2 kids turned out to be 10 people staying at my house Friday night. Thankfully, their biggest problem was one of their cars breaking down on their way here. They live kind of south of Katy and didn't have much damage. Their power was still on and so they decided to just head back on Saturday. I'm glad they didn't experience anything bad and that I didn't have to stay Saturday night with 10 extra guests and another dog in my house. It was great to be able to offer them up a place to stay, but I also didn't get a chance to see them. Maybe next time guys!

As for my brother Josh, he's doing fine. He's hanging out at his GF's house. They still don't have power though. The Discount Tire he worked at had the roof blown off and the store is an absolute wreck. What's really funny is that the power has been restored to the busted up store. Josh Jr and Kristin are also doing fine and trying to make due with no power as well.

Sarah Scott spent the storm in Humble with family and is now in Katy where they have power.

Jackie is at home. They don't have power either, but luckily still have running water.

I just remember, that I once again forgot to check on my other brother Jason. I'm sure my mom would have let me know if something was up with him though.

It's so strange seeing and hearing about a place that you once lived going through this. It was no Katrina thankfully, but it's still a little surreal. I couldn't fathom not having power for several day (we all know how I get when I have no AC). In fact, being in San Antonio where we may have heat, humidity, horrible allergens in the air we aren't affected by hurricanes and other weather things. John and I almost booked a Louisiana casino trip because we just weren't thinking about the hurricane since it wasn't going to affect us. (Yeah, and I just wrote a grant at work for Emergency Preparedness...) It's just a little weird. I'm just happy that everyone is ok and doing well, and hopefully things can get back to normal for them soon.

Yet another thing that made me laugh

2. The crazy man that called me last night sayin' he was gonna buy my screen door cuz Momma read in some magazine that you can take the screen part off, add some shutters and turn it in to a room divider. Yep. That's what Momma's gonna do. (I can't wait to meet Momma!)

3. 100 Calorie Pack Cheesie Poofs

Don't forget OPRAH is on today! Look for me in the crowd when you aren't drooling over the male swimmers.

Myself and 2 coworkers got up and walked to Millennium Park at 5:30 a.m. to go and see Oprah and all the Olympic athletes. SO MUCH FUN!

Here are a few pictures (one of my coworkers had a much better camera than I so I'll post more when she gets me her pics!)

The stage in the wee hours of the morning

The top of the amphitheater

The Bean

David Cook performed

The most overpaid woman that works for Oprah and should be fired cuz she sucks.

Oprah's booty

All the athletes

Michael Phelps and the relay team

Shawn and Nastia. Dara Torres is right about Shawn. Doesn't it also look like Michael has no legs?

The Men's Basketball Team

The women's volleyball

I had a few more pictures and video, but don't have time and may not get it. Just wanted to get what I could up!

Chicago, Day 1 - 2 (since it is the second trip this year!)

Though this has NOTHING to do with Chicago I did get my hair cut and I'm loving it!

John also wanted his picture taken so here he is:

Got up at 4:30 in the morning to go to the airport. The dogs thought I had lost my mind.

Got to Chicago with nothing crazy happening. Although on the airport shuttle some guy actually managed to fall asleep and snored the whole trip.

Rested up a bit and then went and had a bite to eat at the Corner Bakery.

Then it was time to go SHOPPING! I hit up my Chicago mecca known as H&M and found these lovely tops:

I also finally got my very own Medium Brown Bag and a pair of super long jeans (which is something I often don't find/can't afford)

Then I came back and rested some more (I walked all the way from Wacker to the lake.)

Met up some coworkers for dinner. Had to take charge since men don't know how to ask for directions. Ended up at Billy Goat Tavern

had several a few beers

and then one of them wanted to walk to this bar he knew of from 15 years ago. ANOTHER long trip and we got there.

This place also had the smallest bathroom on the planet. Think airplane bathroom with two stalls. Not kidding, the doors hit my knees.

(The first is me sitting on the sink looking at the entry door, the second is from the door looking towards the sink.)

We had one drink there (yes! Just ONE!) and decided to find another place. Only we couldn't find one and ended up walking all the way back to the hotel.

Now I'm about to soak my feet for a bit and then pass out. Tomorrow is Oprah and Michael Freaking Phelps. *crosses fingers*

*Note: I may not get to update very much. Stinkin' internet costs a fortune at the hotel and I'm too lazy to walk to Starbucks to get my free 2 hours. I'll have to see what I can manage!
